Panels will start on Friday, October 17 at 10:00 am.
Our keynote address (by Dr. George Justice of Arizona State University) will take place over dinner on Friday evening.
On Saturday evening, there will be an eighteenth-century country dance, co-sponsored by the Metro Kansas City chapter of the Jane Austen Society of North America. (Beginners are welcome; lessons will be provided!)
The conference will conclude with a docent-led tour of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art on Sunday, early afternoon.

Rooms at this rate are $119 (plus tax) for one or two people, $129 (plus tax) for three people, and $139 (plus tax) for four people.
The rate is guaranteed until Sunday, September 14. If you do not make a reservation by that date, you will be charged at the hotel’s standard rate (which is currently coming up at $150 to $170).
- GETTING HERE:
The hotel’s website has directions for those traveling by car.
If you are arriving by air, the nearest major airport is Kansas City International Airport (MCI), which is served by most major airlines.
Shuttles from the airport run about $20 round trip. Super Shuttle accepts reservations, but does not require them for trips from the airport.
Taxi fare from MCI to the hotel runs about $46. There are taxi kiosks at each terminal.

The hotel offers valet parking with unlimited daily in-and-out privileges for $16.
Anyone traveling by train? Kansas City’s Union Station is served by Amtrak. Taxi from the station to the hotel runs about $8.
